I often think about the things we collect on our journeys, not just the physical ones, but the experiences.

Imagine each of these little stones is a moment in someone's life.

Some are smooth and gray, like the quiet, uneventful days. Others are dark and jagged, representing hardships and pain.

But then there are these brilliant, translucent ones. They're like those rare moments of pure joy or profound clarity. The kind that glow from within and stand out from all the rest.

Perhaps it's a moment when you felt truly seen, or when you realized you were stronger than you ever knew.

They don't erase the other stones (the hard or dull ones) but they catch the light and make the whole collection beautiful.

Sometimes in my therapy room, people come in feeling like their entire beach is made of those dull, gray stones.

They can't see the light anymore. My role, I believe, is to help them sift through their memories, to see that those glowing, beautiful stones are still there. We polish them up and hold them to the light so they can remember the moments of strength and beauty they already possess.

Your life is a beach like this, with all its different textures and colors. The goal isn't to get rid of the rough stones, but to appreciate the unique brilliance of the ones that sparkle. And to remember that, even on the darkest nights, the right stones can still catch the moonlight and glow.
